Curriculum Information

PE will take place on Monday afternoons (outdoor) and Thursday mornings (indoor). It is really helpful however, if the children have their PE kits (labelled) in school everyday in case of any unforeseen changes in our weekly timetable. Correct kit consists of red shorts, a plain white T-shirt, plimsolls or trainers and in case of bad weather, a tracksuit (top and bottoms).

Our topic this half term will be 'Street Detectives' where we will be learning about our local community, looking at houses old and new and finding out how our streets have changed since our mum and dads were young. We will be combining this with a short, local walk around our neighbourhood- more information to follow. At the end of this topic we plan to invite parents into school to celebrate and see first-hand the fantastic work that the children will have produced.

After half term our topic will be 'Towers, Tunnels and Turrets' where we will be exploring castles and castle life as well as creating our own tower structures. In addition, the Year 2 team are delighted to confirm that a provisional booking has been made for a school trip to Lincoln Castle on Friday November 3rd. Here, the children will experience a Real Castle tour, Shield making, a Medieval Banquet complete with music and dancing followed by Knight training and Replica Armour object handling! I'm sure you will agree that this is a fantastic opportunity to enhance the children's understanding and learning of this topic. A letter will be sent home soon with more information about what will undoubtedly be an unforgettable day.....
