Welcome to class 3AC
The children have settled into Key Stage 2 very well and are getting used to the different break and lunchtimes. They are welcome to bring a SNACK for breaktime as I appreciate it is a long morning. Please make this fruit or cereal bar, not chocolate or crisps.
This term our topic is based on the Romans. We will investigate a time line of events and look at the life style of soldiers, Boudicca and the common person. We will set a time for you to be able to view any art or artefacts we create as part of our investigations.
Homework will be given every Wednesday, to be returned the following Monday.
PE (indoors) will be on a Friday (am)
PE (outdoors) will be on a Tuesday (pm) and will be hockey for this half term. Please ensure children have correct PE kit that is suitable for our increasingly cold weather.
The children will be given their 'Times Table Rockstars' logins, which will allow them to access the online games and earn rewards while having fun. We urge the children to use this to practise their times tables as we can not stress just how important these are!
Also, the children will be receiving a reading record, where any reading at home can be recorded and any comments you may wish to add. As reading is vital for all areas of the curriculum and such an important skill for life, could we ask that you attempt to read with your child (at least) 3 times per week. This can be anything from their school reading book to the back of a cereal packet - all reading counts!
We started our English unit about Little Red Riding Hood and we were lucky to have a visitor to tell the story to the children! Would you believe a relation of the original Grandma of the story. The children really engaged with the story and are enjoying the tale so far. we are having a big push on handwriting and presentation so please encourage your child to write in a joined style as much as possible.
