5/6RF

frownWelcome to Class 5/6 RF!smiley

Who's who in 5/6 RF?

We are the fantastic children in 5/6 RF!

Our class book is: Diary of a Wimpy Kid and our chosen class song is: This One's For You by David Guetta.

We love to learn about new things, but most importantly we love to learn and have fun.

Class Teacher - Mrs Fryatt

Mrs Fryatt is also KS2 Maths co-ordinator. She loves to teach children, her favourite subjects are Maths, P.E and I.C.T.

She is enthusiastic about all learning at school and will often be found to be eating cake or anything sweet!

At home she is something of a book worm (Harry Potter especially) and enjoys walking her mad Cocker Spaniel puppy, Ginny.

Class Teaching Assistant - Miss Jones.

Miss Jones is our class TA and she is awesome! Not only does she do a fantastic job helping Mrs Fryatt, the children and making our class displays look brilliant, she also runs the morning breakfast club and after school club. She enjoys getting stuck in with our lessons and will often be seen drinking copious amounts of coffee.

Our Class Motto - Learning Gives You Wings to Fly!

In 5/6 RF, we all follow the same rule - to always try our best and be proud of ourselves.

We are a team and we help support each other in our learning and encourage each other to succeed.

Come and have a look at our Motto display - the art work is amazing and all different, just like us!

We use Class Dojo as a rewards system in our class. Already, the children are busy earning points for all their hard work in the first two weeks! You can sign up to your child's Dojo account and will be notified when your child receives a point. If you haven't already signed up using the letter sent home before the Summer, please don't hesitate to ask Mrs Fryatt and she will send you a letter with the link and instructions. no

As well individual Dojo points, we have a class rewards system too. At the beginning of the term the children put together some ideas for a class treat at the end of Autumn. The 5/6 team have chosen an idea and covered it with a blank jigsaw...the children have to reveal the treat, piece by piece and if they manage to take off all 25 pieces - they get the treat! So far we have taken off 2 pieces from our jigsaw, both for excellent behaviour during class and assembly. Well done 5/6 RF!

Our Topic: Peasants, Princes and Pestilence.

We have a fantastic Autumn 1 topic to start off our year and the children have already been busy learning all about life during the plague in the Middle Ages.

They've learnt all about the horrors of 'Pestilence' and written some fantastic descriptions as their first independent writing experience. Also, they've done some brilliant art work, showing their ideas of what Pestilence would look like (very scary!). We have researched all about the symptoms of the plague as well as some of the wackier home remedies. Next week we are looking at herbs and their properties and how they were used for medicinal purposes during the 14th Century.

A letter has also gone home this week about our 5/6 trip to the Historical Village of Eyam in Derbyshire. The trip will take place on the 19th October and the children will be able to visit Eyam museum as well as complete a treasure hunt round the village, looking for the long lost valuables of all the plague victims of Eyam.
